Day 15 - You Eat it, You Own it...

Health...  Focus of the week. Wow, focus of most of what I'm doing right now. I have been prescribed by my doctor Naturethroid thyroid supplements, as well as a D3 supplement and a Kelp supplement daily. I am also taking a Zyrtec every evening and usually have an Aleve or two a day for joint aches. I am currently 180lbs, when a "healthy" weight for my frame is closer to 140, so I'm wearing a 40 lb jacket as Lisa Nichols would say. I love to be active. I'm a pretty active person. My favorite past-time is hiking and if I owned a paddle board or a canoe or kayak, I would spend all day long in the James River if I could. But here I am, mother of 4, running around all day in the car, taking kids here and there, going to three different grocery stores for dinner, feeding the kids first and eating usually their leftovers, or munching on the pieces of what I'm putting in their lunches. Forgetting to eat breakfast because by the time the thyroid pill is done (you hav...

Day 13 - 4 Chances to win every day

Day 13 of No Matter What 28 Days to Results - I love this day. In our pursuit of happiness, it's important to identify even the small things in life. Lisa Nichols challenges us to identify four wins every day. One between the time we wake up and Noon. One between Noon and 3pm, one between 3pm and 6pm and one between 6pm and when we go to bed. I love these time lines, because it give me more time in which to actually have a win when my kids are home from school. Hahaha. Much harder for mom to win when kids are involved. :-D So the challenge for today was to identify one win in ONE of the four time segments identified. And to make it a habit going forward, to keep your eyes open for that win in each of the four segments. My win(s) yesterday...  - Between the time I woke up and Noon - I wrote my "I have a dream" post. That was pretty epic in my book. Putting it out there.  - Did I identify a win between Noon and 3? I surely don't remember.  - From 3-6, my "...

I have a dream...

First...  I have to put this out there in the ether... When I was little, if anyone had asked me what I want to do when I grew up, I would say... "Stand in front of 100s or even 1000s of people and talk" My mom heard that and said "Oh, you will be a teacher" (she was a teacher). My teacher heard that and said "Oh, you will be an actress". A different teacher heard that and put me into the Junior High speaking team.  Eventually that "dream" faded away when I was too nervous and had too much stage fright to try out for the theater performance in high school, and I stuck with cheer and dance instead. I was a kid who did what was expected of them next, and when I graduated from high school went straight to college, and majored in "sorority" with a minor in accounting (it was the easiest major for me). I graduated and went to work in a Big 5 accounting firm.  Then came the Quarter-Life Crisis. You know the one...  When you rea...

Day 12 - Energy Entanglements

Day 12 - Energy Entanglements Wow, well, this topic had me thinking for several days. The concept is simple, and obvious... Each commitment you make takes a little of your freedom away. Big things, such as marriage and kids, are obvious. So are Mortgages, credit cards and other financial obligations. But the not so obvious ones are things like... volunteer opportunities, favorite foods, addictions. These things are okay, if they are things that you have consciously chosen and/or bring you joy. They become "Entanglements" if they are things that no longer bring you joy. When you identify an energy entanglement, you have two choices... 1 - change your mindset regarding that thing; 2 - Let it Go!!! Things such as marriage, kids, mortgages and other financial obligations are not things that can be let go. If they aren't bringing you joy, then change your perception. Change how you're looking at them or viewing them. If they can't be let go like finances, then br...

Day 11 - Conversational Awareness

Recap from Day 10 -  Well, I got the trip put away and the walls completed, and then my 9 year old daughter came to me with an itchy head. Now, something to know about me, I have four kids: three daughters, one with curly hair, the other two with long, thick wavy hair and one son. When someone's head starts itching, I just cringe. We ended up spending the entire afternoon at the Nit Fairies. Three of us were treated for lice (yes, me included), one was declared lice-free and one has to have his head shaved. Hahaha!! The rest of the day was spent on containment and cleaning, washing sheets, sanitizing hair brushes and teddy bears. Needless to say, the rest of the kitchen cleanup was put on hold. BUT, I celebrate the wins of trip-put away, Wall Declutter and Lice containment! Day 11 - Conversational Awareness I've always been a very positive, optimistic person, in general, but when I began to look at what was going on in my head I realized how negative it was. And had been ...

Day 10 - Eliminating

The amazing Lisa Nichols, CEO of Motivating the Masses, has a program called "No Matter What - 28 Days to Results". Reporting back from Day 9 - The fridge looks awesome. I was able to clean the top, front and sides before I left for church. I went grocery shopping on the way home from church and set everything out on the counter until I could clean out the refrigerator. I did NOT touch the freezer. That's a whole different ball game. Just the fridge. It looks great. Makes me want to cook dinner. When I was finished, I wished I had taken pictures, so I'm going to take some pictures of the before and after of what I can accomplish in the next few posts.  THEN, distraction took over and we decided at 3:30pm to put all four kids in the car and drive down to view the total solar eclipse in North Carolina, scheduled for 2:30pm the next day. Crazy 31 hours. Here's the numbers...   TIME - 31 hours total trip. 18 hours of driving time, 7-8 hours of sleep, an hour or s...

Day 9 of No Matter What

The amazing Lisa Nichols, CEO of Motivating the Masses, has a program called "No Matter What - 28 Days to Results". I am on Day 9 - Tolerations My Physical Environment is the one where there are the most "Tolerations" in my life at the moment – I can’t seem to feel comfortable in my home. I feel like there is no space. I don’t feel like I can breathe. There is constant sound, constant movement, constant cleaning. Every time I get a space clean, I turn around and there is a pile on it again. Every time I declutter an area, I step back, and it still seems completely cluttered up. Some of this is mindset. My kids are home from school for the summer. There is always constant movement in my house. The joy of having four kids is that they are always moving and there is always something going on. Someone is always singing, or playing music, or yelling upstairs to someone, or asking me for something. This is a joy that God has given me. This is part of the bles...

Mission Statement

My prayer for this blog is that my struggles with my personal transformation would give people hope, seeing that all transformations are not easy. I also pray that this would be a place where I can feel accountable for all my feelings, struggles, actions and accomplishments. Somewhere that I can be real, and honest about the struggles and feelings. As well as somewhere that I can celebrate any successes.
