Day 10 - Eliminating
The amazing Lisa Nichols, CEO of Motivating the Masses, has a program called "No Matter What - 28 Days to Results".
Reporting back from Day 9 - The fridge looks awesome. I was able to clean the top, front and sides before I left for church. I went grocery shopping on the way home from church and set everything out on the counter until I could clean out the refrigerator. I did NOT touch the freezer. That's a whole different ball game. Just the fridge. It looks great. Makes me want to cook dinner. When I was finished, I wished I had taken pictures, so I'm going to take some pictures of the before and after of what I can accomplish in the next few posts.
THEN, distraction took over and we decided at 3:30pm to put all four kids in the car and drive down to view the total solar eclipse in North Carolina, scheduled for 2:30pm the next day. Crazy 31 hours. Here's the numbers...
TIME - 31 hours total trip. 18 hours of driving time, 7-8 hours of sleep, an hour or so sitting down to a meal (the rest were eaten in the car), and the rest of the time sitting out on a blanket in a parking lot in Franklin, NC watching the solar eclipse.
COST - 31 hours of time, 30,000 Marriott Hotel Points, $120 in gas, less than $200 in food for 6 people, 3 hours of time to clean the minivan the next day.
RESULTS - Some fantastic pictures, 8 painted rocks, 6 pairs of solar glasses, 3 goodie bags from Franklin, NC some amazing pictures and A memory to last a lifetime, as my 13-year old put it. WIN!!
So, I'm back now in my kitchen two days later reporting on Day 9, and attacking Day 10.
Day 10 - Eliminating Tolerances
Taking all of those tolerances that I identified "yesterday" and attacking one at a time. The challenge - Don't start anything that can't be finished to completion (100% done) in less than 15 minutes. That means 1 drawer/cupboard at a time.
So here's my list, prioritized, and as we move through today, I'll tackle one thing at a time, in 10-15 minute increments. I'll report back tomorrow as to how things went, and what I was able to accomplish. Unfortunately, the kitchen is now cluttered with things that came in from the minivan when we got home at 11 last night, so that will be the first thing to tackle.
- Put away the trip
- Walls (not including the chore board)
- Kids' Crafting areas
- Junk Drawers
- Junk Cupboards
- Tupperware & Reynolds Wrap Cupboards
- Utensil Drawers
- Pots and Pans Cupboards
- Hot Pads, Dish Cloths and Dish Towel Drawers
- Appliance Cupboards
- Chore Chart
- Pantry - Shelf by shelf
- Counter Tops
- Chore Board
Obviously, not accomplishing all of this today, but hoping that as we move through this week, I can accomplish some of these things each day, until it is looking beautiful by the time we have our big crab party in September.
Reporting back tomorrow...
