Day 16 - Will Power vs. Environment
Day 16 -
After everything I've been through the last few days (See Missing Time), it feels kind of silly coming back here and talking about will power, but I'm committed to it, so here goes.
Lisa Nichols talks about how willpower is a choice. It is our decision to choose life giving over convenience. Will power changes our health, by CHOOSING life giving food over the convenient food in our pantry.
The challenge is to get rid of the convenient, yet NOT life giving food in our fridge or pantry. - Done. Did that last week.
Make sure that your commitment to my physical wealth and physical future are in alignment with my investment in every other area of my life. And I can do that through willpower. Make a commitment to my physical wealth and physical future.
That means:

That means:
- making an investment of time into preparing foods on a weekly and/or biweekly basis. Feeding 6 people is hard out of one fridge. I shop on Sundays for Sunday night, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday morning. Tuesday night, we eat leftovers, making room in the fridge for a Wednesday shopping trip. I shop on Wednesday for Wed night, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, eating leftovers on Saturday night to make room for Sunday's shopping trip. Breakfast Sunday is a shake so that there aren't groceries I need for that one.
- commit to my morning routine... daily detox water, bible time with coffee, exercise, BREAKFAST.
- make an investment of time into Meal planning - making sure that busy mornings = easy breakfasts, busy evenings = leftover nights OR early prep dinners
- ensure that there are adequate healthy snacks for after school... cut up vegetables, healthy nut mixes, cut up fruits for the kids, maybe some zucchini muffins
- stick to the plans for lunch. If that means making the salads on Sunday and putting them in mason jars, then so be it.
- if the meal plan calls for a lunch out option, take it! Invest that time in a healthy and friendly relationship. Or maybe even lunch out with my husband!
- life is crazy, our plans change at a moments notice, and things inevitably take way longer than I think they will. I should have a crazy day option each week, with healthy, but convenient options... Maybe taco night will be my crazy day option each week. I can make taco meat on Monday each week, and keep it in the fridge for a day that is too crazy to cook a real dinner. IF we don't have one, I'll make tacos for lunch or dinner one day over the weekend.
Well, that's a start...
Let's see what God thinks of that plan, because my plans don't mean anything. I'm letting go and letting God.
:-)
